The FAQ, The Fine Print, The Nuts and Bolts
How much does it cost to work with you?
At the base, I charge $375 for a 90-minute session that includes some support outside of our sessions.
It will depend on your individual needs and projects, but here are some sample ranges from previous projects:
Starting rate – $2500 per month for fractional business management.
Starting rate – $1500 for multiple sessions to help you execute plans for your business.
Starting rate – $2250 for a written business plan (no more than 20 pages including appendices) that includes financial projections, plus coaching on obtaining financing for your business.
Sample rate – $2500+ for operations training for new production process for you and your staff.
Starting rate – $3500 to shift your marketing, sales and pricing strategy from wholesale to direct-to-consumer and eCommerce.
Why do I offer this?
With a 20-year history of being a metalsmith, a simultaneous 20-year work history in retail sales and management, and a 16-year history in eCommerce for small businesses, I have been in your shoes and bring a perspective on the jewelry industry that is deep and wide. I have experience with everything from eCommerce consumer experience, to SEO, to packing and shipping systems, to making jewelry, to inventory systems, to digital systems, and small business development. My experience is hands-on, experiential, and rooted in real world consumer dynamics and business owner budgets, with a big side of digital know-how. Most importantly though, my goal in consulting is for you to understand it all too. Strategy that is based on real-world data combined with your business goals is how we will set your business on it’s best path.
Why work with me?
On top of all of the above experience, I have also been a small business development instructor and advisor since 2018 focusing on financial projections and small business financial education with women’s business centers in California. While working with the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center to provide financial instruction to aspiring business owners, I have coached more than 50 students a year to create business plans that include financial projections. This work included two summers of partnerships with the Transgender Business District and an ongoing focus on reaching marginalized communities. With Women’s Economic Ventures, I advise a variety of small business owners from retailers to nutritionists on best business practices that blend their personal and professional visions with strong doses of data, finances, and evidence.
How long will this take?
Each client’s needs are different, so each service will be different. Some projects require only 2 meetings, some will require ongoing support. During our discovery call, I can usually give you a time range.
What if I’m a service provider in the jewelry industry and not a jewelry designer, can you work with me on my casting, stone setting or engraving business?
Hell. Yes. In fact, I am extra passionate about this idea because the jewelry industry needs folks like you. Across the US, we need skilled service providers like casters, fabricators, 3D modelers and printers, engravers and lapidarists to enter the industry. Bonus? Do you do small business coaching outside of the jewelry industry?
I give this an enthusiastic yes! While I have spent the majority of my time in the jewelry industry, I started in food and retail. I also spent 7+ years teaching entrepreneurship skills, reviewing business plans, and coaching business owners in a wide variety of industries including ceramics, food, retail, marketing agencies and photographers, just to name a few. Hey, I have been there. And after years of teaching and coaching new business owners I know how much we struggle to work on our own.
