I pay attention to the latest jewelry news so that you don’t have to
Well, technically speaking, I like to “summarize” the latest in the jewelry world so that you can get the resources that you need.
-
The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference is happening in August. I will be there! If you will too, let me know and we should definitely meet up while we are in Chicago.
-
I wrote about these six designers working with Fairmined gold for Sustainably Chic. Learn more about why each designer chose to take extra steps to ensure that their supply chains are benefitting everyone.
-
Don’t worry, if you live in the Bay Area, I’ll be reminding you again about this event, but the annual – Metal Arts Guild Metalsmithing Day is in June – I’ll be presenting about eCommerce best practices with a HUGE focus on ethical marketing.
What I am working on and what I need help with:
-
Test this for me! I made this calculator to help you understand your profit margins from a single trade show.. It will show how much you need to make in sales at a trade show to break even, and how much you need to profit. You can also use this same calculator for direct-to-consumer craft shows.
-
Why a calculator? Because I believe that any discussions about marketing, and especially trade shows, need a parallel discussion about your budget. It is one way of answering the question “Was this show successful?”
-
I would love your feedback – if you test this out, reply to this email with your thoughts – did I miss any expenses? Does it make sense with what you know about your business? Did it surprise you? Is it readable?
-
This is in Beta mode and I plan to release it later this summer.

I am working on a pro vs con-type list for all of those email service providers in order to help you make better decisions – MailChimp, ConvertKit, Klaviyo, Mailer Lite, FloDesk, and Squarespace will all be reviewed with a cost-benefit analysis.
I will review them with you in mind – smaller, solo designers and business owners. Is there an email service that you’ve been curious about? drop a comment and I’ll add it to the list!
