Because unless you read the descriptions thoroughly, you might be buying vermeil, gold fill or gold plate. Oh, and gold plated jewelry and gold fill jewelry shouldn’t be cheap either.

Set aside money for repairs and replacements, and also rethink your moral priorities if you think it’s OK to underpay people for their labor.
Update as of April 2025 on gold prices
Gold prices are yikes. At Over $3200 as of April 30, 2025 which would be the highest it’s ever been, except that the other week it went up to $3500 briefly.
